To all members:

As you are all aware our country has been dealing with the Coronavirus for the past several months.

Robert E. Shepherd was the President of the Ceramic Tile Layers Local 67 and later selected to be the Vice President of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers.

On July 1, 2020 Mike Lowery retired as Secretary-Treasurer of the District Council.

Upon his retirement, and according to the ADC constitution I have appointed Mike Volpentesta to complete the remainder of the term.

I look forward to working with Mike as we continue the work of representing the membership to the best of our ability.

Fraternally,

President Allen

Message from President Allen :

Mike Lowery, Secretary-Treasurer of the ADC, has announced to me his desire to retire at the end of June 2020.

Mike has held the office of Secretary-Treasurer since 2004.

During the past 16 years, we have worked together to tackle numerous and difficult obstacles.

There have been mergers of locals, mergers of pensions, mergers of health funds, selling and buying of buildings, working through the economic depression, contract negotiations and COVID-19!

Through all of this and more the ADC today remains financially solid.

Dear Members:

June 1, 2020 starts another year for wage and benefit improvements for the BAC Membership.

This year we negotiated three agreements, Brick, Marble, and Terrazzo.

All three were settled just before the June 1 expiration.

The Brick and Marble negotiated a 3-year contract, and the Terrazzo a 4-year contract.

Wage sheets will be put out shortly and a member may call the hall or a Business Representative for the allocations.

Attached are resources for members who may be filing for unemployment.

The best way to fight Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is to stop its spread from person to person in our communities. To get the word out on how to do that, Mayor Lightfoot has reached out to local Labor organizations and asked us to pass on vital information and resources to our members.

The Robert E. Shepherd Scholarship Fund was established in 1977 to honor one of the founding fathers and most influential members of the Ceramic Tile Layers Union, Local 67 of Illinois. Holding the highest position in the local union and named a vice-president of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, his vision was instrumental to the growth and success of the union movement. This scholarship continues his legacy of helping proud union families prosper.
